Costa Serena - Ship of the Gods

Costa Serena - Ship of the Gods

Costa Serena is in service from 2007; its capacity is 3.780 passengers and 1.100 members of crew. The length of the ship is app. 290 m (951 ft), its tonnage is 114.500t. It has 14 decks and it was one of the largest ships in the Costa Crociere fleet until 2014.

We decided to take the Western Mediterranean Cruise with Costa Serena, started in Savona, Italy. The embarkment was in Savona and we must say that in spite of the large number of guests it has run rather smoothly. We left the port of Savona and our cruise began. On fourteen-day cruise we have visited Spain, Morocco, Portugal and Italy.

Costa Serena is the ship of the gods inspired by mythology of ancient Rome and a true floating temple of entertainment. Costa Serena has 1.500 cabins in total including 87 with direct access to the spa, 505 with private balcony, 58 suites all with private balcony, 12 suites with direct access to the spa.

When you first enter the ship you receive the Costa Card; this is the most important card for the entire cruise. With Costa Card you can go off and on the ship and it is used for all the payments on board. So the first day on board you have to validate it with your credit card. All the expenses that you have made on board and the service charges are deducted from your credit card at the end of the cruise.

For guests of Costa Serena there are two main dinner restaurants Vesta and Ceres. We had dinner in Vesta restaurant at 7:30 pm. You can have dinner in early sitting at 7:30 pm or in late sitting at 9:30 pm, depends on type of cabin you have. The menu was consisted of appetizer, pasta, soup, main course, salad and dessert. Food was quite good; overall dinner atmosphere was very relaxing and enjoyable, especially on two gala dinners. Dinner staff has performed various entertainment programs to make dinner even more interesting. On 14-day cruise we had two gala dinners with finer dinner menu and guests dressed more formally.

Every day there are entertainment shows in ship theatre which are very well visited. Shows are very professional and include singers, dancers, actors and other artists. While staying on board the visit of theatre after dinner was a must.

Costa Serena, Theatre on Three Levels

Costa Serena has a »shopping street« with different shops which almost every day offer different sale, from watches, perfumes to jewellery, where prices are really affordable.

Cruising with Costa Serena was a very nice experience. Ship provides all the necessary elements of a luxury hotel. Downside of this large ship is enormous number of guests on board so you cannot enjoy in all facilities that ship offers. We like to compliment international staff who constantly cares for the well-being of every guest on board.
